She and her sister inherited their mothers addiction and began gambling at a young age. In school or in back alleys. And for some reason she never lost. She had most of the kids in the neighborhood broke before she got caught.
When their father died of a heart attack their mother killed herself and Alexia inherited the fortune left behind by her parents. She sold the company and became a multi-billionare. She made a lot of friends who turned out to just be using her. The emotional breakdown afterward was too much and she mysteriously disappeared from her home, New York. Able to continue hiding for five years.
She was eventually tracked down to San Francisco by her sister. She had several bank accounts in different names and had survived that way. She met another exile who told her of the war between the X-men and the Acolytes but decided to stay neutral living peacefully, growing her fortune in San Francisco using her powers. Ignoring both sides as much as possible. Keeping her head down hoping to be left out of the coming war.
