Name: David Michael Longley
Codename: Freeze
Age: 16
Apparent Age: 16
Date of Birth: January Twenty-Fourth
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Powers: He has the ability to manipulate time. He is not nearly as powerful as he may one day be; therefore his powers only have a radius of about eighty feet in any direction from him. His first ability was freezing time, but in the past few months he has discovered he can also speed it up, ultimately resulting in the explosion of the item. However both powers throw off the balance of the surrounding areas.
Affiliation:Acolytes
Personality: David was a kind and fun loving young man who found music to be his self-expression. He could play quite a few instruments ranging from drums to flute, violin to bass, but his favorite had always been the trumpet. And he was very good. He made some form of band at nearly every school he went to.
When he was fourteen, he was taken from his family because of his powers. For a few weeks he hated them, cursed his abilities and wished that he could get rid of them. But one of his ‘nicer’ captors talked him into his abilities. He showed David what they could do and how it made him special. How he had been specially chosen to be a mutant. After that, David resigned his hatred toward his abilities.
He decided when they let him join their ranks that he would escape and find his family when he first got the chance but when the time didn’t arise for a few months, he started to loose site of that goal. Slowly, he started to realize that he enjoyed being where he was. He proved himself among his peers and was no longer a prisoner, but a fully fledged member of the team.
Family: Mother died when he was twelve. Father and sister live in Antarctica *As far as he knows*.
History: He isn’t quite sure ware he was born but he knows it was somewhere in Europe. He only lived there for about three months before moving to a new city. And this has been his life ever since. He’s never lived any where longer than eight months, though he has returned to the same places.
His mother was the camera-man, director and star of her own documentary TV series on the animals of the world, and a second on the people and cultures of the world. His father was a very well-loved author. They moved frequently and took their two children everywhere. From early on, both children learned to love the wildlife and the differences between people. The girl, Camille, had a knack for learning languages and she was always excited when they went somewhere with a new one to learn. David loved to see and learn new musical instruments from the native people that made and played them.
One day, they where passing through the Sahara desert and their mother passed out. She had not taken the needed precautions and later died from dehydration. Living on her dream, however, they continued moving and filming the show, however the whole family now worked together to make it happen.
When he was fourteen, both David and his sister started to do weird things. Cam could change the colour of her skin and David could freeze time. Neither of them where sure exactly what this meant until they told their father. They where currently living in Slovenia but they were nearly finished. On their way to Antarctica, the pair told their father.
Frightened for his childrens lives, he told them what he knew about mutants. Now, their father wasn’t a man that feared the mutants or what they could do. He only feared that the wrong people would get their hands on his children and hurt them. As a result, they filmed their final episode of the show documenting the Antarctica sea life. The trio settled down in the arctic tundra.
About a year later, the ‘wrong people’ found them. Due to her powers, Cam was able to blend in with the ground and hide herself. Unfortunately, her brother was not so lucky. They took him away. After being held hostage for over seven months, the people he had come to know as the Acolytes gave him a choice: Join Them or Die. Naturally, he joined them.
After a year of learning to harness his powers for them, he realized that the ‘dark side’ was so much fun to be a part of and after awhile, he wasn’t pretending anymore. He enjoyed what he did, even if it hurt people.
Now, he lives with a few of the other Acolytes, waiting for his next mission.
Strengths/Weaknesses: He is very focused and straightforward. He will do just about anything a higher rank tells him and he will do it without question. He speaks his mind, weather it is good for him or not to. He enjoys using his powers ‘for fun’ and will often blow things up for no reason. Should it ever come to it, he will not attack or kill his sister. He doesn't always think strait when he gets angered and will often do things he probably shouldn't.
RP Sample: The morning was still dark and Kyle had awoken very early. It was about four thirty when he donned his riding uniform, simple jeans over his riding pants and a white shirt. His uniform had to be simple but elegant. Since he competed in both western and English competitions, he had to be able to easily change uniforms. His white shirt was soon covered by a beautiful black leather jacket He slipped his feet into his boots.
His dorm was small but he shared it with no one, making life much easier. There weren’t as many guys here so most of them got their own room. Kyle was one of the few riders who had taken a strong interest this year. Most of the others had goofed around and rarely attended sessions. But Kyle was passionate about his love for horses. So passionate, in fact that he was granted the permission of keeping two horses at the school. In fact, he didn’t even own a TV. The closest he had was a portable DVD player and a laptop. The only movies Kyle owned were horse movies, Flicka, Racing stripes, and Figure-skating movies like Blades of Glory and The Cutting Edge. The only thing Kyle loved as much as horses was the ice. When he wasn’t at school or training with his horses, he was at the rink training with his partner.
In the corner nearest his bed sat his Western equipment. Unlike most students, he preferred to keep his tack in his room instead of the tack room. There, there was too much potential of it being stolen or destroyed. A beautiful black saddle that matches his jacket perfectly. His bridle and ropes were black as well. In the other corner sat his English tack. Pure white, like snow it shone even in no light. But that was for another day. Today he would be doing barrels. He picked his saddle up and put on his back, strapping the girth around his shoulder and down by his waist. **Like a quiver of arrows is strapped across yer chest** He adjusted it so it was comfortable. It was heavy, yes, but it was in perfect condition. He threaded his rope through his belt buckles and tied it at his waist. Grabbing his bridle and other equipment he hurried out of his room.
He entered the stables which, thankfully, were nearby his dorm. Kyle entered the stable nearest the entrance. Inside, a beautiful Clydesdale stallion whinnied to see his master and friend. Grinning, Kyle entered the stable. He grabbed the brush from the stand in the corner and let it fall onto his friends coat. Barely thinking, he brushed his mount down until he was shinier than the English tack. It was about five thirty and he knew some people would be up soon. He patted his friend on the nose. He didn’t need to talk for it seemed the old horse knew what his rider was thinking. Filling the trough with food, he closed the stable door and headed to the next one.
Inside was a beautiful, much younger brown stallion Mustang. He opened the door and the younger horse whinnied and pounded at the ground. “Dreamer.” His voice was clam but the horse seemed to know the command. Quieting down, the horse trotted around his pen in circles. Kyle held up the brush and the horse stopped, standing perfectly still. He spoke to Dreamer as he brushed the young horse down. “I promised Arctic I would take him to the barrels today but if I return early I will take you out. I know you are eager to learn but with the competition soon I need to make sure he is ready. You’re a good boy aren’t you my Dreamer.” The horse nodded his head vigorously and Kyle grinned.
The sun was starting to rise and he could hear voices out side. He patted the horse on the neck and filled his trough with the same food as Arctic’s. He left the stable and entered Arctic’s. Leaving the door open, he beckoned his horse forward. At a normal pace, the horse stepped out of the stable and headed out into the open. Kyle locked the door and walked after his horse.
He walked up to the post to find Arctic standing there obediently, with no rope. As always, there was no need to tie up his free spirit. The two trusted each other and knew they could never be apart. Kyle threw the bridle over the post as he undid the girth. He set the saddle on the post as well and lifted the saddle blanket onto his ponies back. Making sure it was up on the right portion of the back, he lifted the saddle one handed onto the horse. He walked around to Arctic’s other side and strapped the girth squarely around the horses stomach.
He fitted the bit into Arctic’s mouth and strapped the rest of the bridal around the horses head. Once finished he put his foot into the stirrup and set himself squarely on the saddle. Without saying a word and with out any kicking movements, the horse started off. He walked slowly at first then picked up speed to a quicker walk. He could see traces that other riders had left already and he knew he would find them on the trail. Arctic picked up speed and started into a trot. Being in western he had no need to post so he sat in the saddle one hand on the reigns the other on the horn. Arctic went into a lope and was off.
It wasn’t long before he caught up with some other riders on the trail. He recognized a few of them, ones that ad been champion riders but had decided to have a social life instead of a professional one. He came up behind them. They seemed to be talking more than practicing. “Left side.” He called out.
