Appearance:
Zeb is tall and thin, standing at 5 foot 11 and weighing 122.5 pounds. Long, chin-length blue and black hair constantly hangs in his face. Since his hair is always hanging in his face, he is continually brushing it out of his eyes or flicking his head. His eyes are blue and sightless (see History).
Zeb has a longish, pale face; he doesn't like the outdoors in particular, so he tries to avoid them all together. He has a long, slightly pointed nose, perfect for his shape of face. The upper of his two pale lips is rather thin while the lower is a bit fuller.
As aforementioned, Zeb is slender. His thin neck gives off to his slim shoulders, his slender torso leading to his slim hips. Though he is thin, he is not lacking muscle. The boy has a small amount of wiry muscle, just enough to define his abs, chest, and arms.
Personality:
Zeb is soft-spoken, but authoritative. He hardly ever raises his voice to anyone. His is very even tempered and slow to anger, though there are a few things that set him off quickly. Topics like rape, drug abuse, prostitution, and prejudice being taken lightly will usually end up with him being angry. Being angry is dangerous for him— he cannot control his powers when he is angry— so he tries to avoid such situations.
Along with his even-temper, he is very warm and sincere. He is friendly to people, even when he has only just met them. Zeb is also a very big flirt. He contains himself around students, but when he goes out he tends to hit on attractive guys.
Family:
None living or that he cares to remember.
History:
Zeb grew up in an abusive home, like most orphans. When he turned fourteen, his father went to jail. Two days before the trial, the man hung himself. His mother, Christina, remarried, wedding a man named Dan.
Three months after his father’s suicide, Zeb ran away. He couldn't deal with his home life anymore; Dan was just as abusive as his biological father, if not more, and his mother didn't care. So, the small town boy ran away to the city, and, while there, his life spiraled out of control.
Two weeks after running away, a moneyless Zeb was sleeping on the streets when a green haired eighteen-year-old found him. This boy's name was Emily, an English teenager who insisted on being called Ems. He took the fourteen year old Zeb to his 'roommates', Adam (20) and Carson Denial (C.D; 17). Zeb thought it was the best thing ever; he was totally broke, so it was either live with these men or go home. He couldn't believe his luck. That is, until he found out what the men were up to.
Adam, C.D., and Ems were all alcoholics, smokers, crack heads, and gay (though Ems insisted he wasn't /gay/, just /bi/). They slowly lulled Zeb into their circle; he was just fourteen and very impressionable. They got him hooked: drugs, beer, cigs, the lot of it. The worst part, though, was that they 'helped' him discover his sexuality.
On his fifteenth birthday, the trio took him out for drinks. Ever bar and nightclub in town knew Adam; all Zeb had to do was to cling to him, like a teen girl in love, and he was in. Unfortunately, Zeb got way past a little tipsy that night. He got drunk and, sadly, kissed Ems. It was the worst thing that he could have done. Soon, Adam, Ems, and C.D. were back at the flat with Zeb. Thanks to that night, Zeb's virginity was blown into the wind.
Well, it just so happens that a month or so after the incident, Zeb got arrested for prostitution. Adam had threatened to throw him out if he didn't bring in money, and he didn't want that to happen. So, the cops took him home. Or, at least they would have. If Zeb even had a home anymore.
His mother had been killed in a drunk-driving accident; his step-father didn't want him. So, Zeb was shipped off to rehab, and later 'The Receiving Home'. It was at the rehabilitation center that he acquired the scar and the bad eyesight in his right eye.
It was a pretty lax environment, the rehab center. As long as they inmates stuck to the program, they were pretty much free to roam the building as they please. After the rehab center, he was sent back to a half-way home
He went to a school for the gifted at sixteen and developed his powers for two or three years. There he learned to read and write, for he hadn’t learned through his younger years. However, around the time of his eighteenth birthday, his ability and power level became dangerous.
His brain could not handle the strain placed upon it. His body began to fail—his eyesight was the first to go. Next his metabolism sped up, making him loose weight quickly. Last was his health—he began to develop heart problems, breathing problems, every type of illness you could imagine. After a few months, he was confined to a hospital bed. It was in the hospital that he met Dr. Cooper. The doctor was a mutant as well, offering Zeb the chance to undergo a special surgery to reverse the effects of his powers. If he didn’t agree, Zeb would die a slow and painful death. If he did, Zeb would continue living. The catch? Zeb would become a member of Dr. Cooper’s own mutant team. Zeb foolishly agreed, undergoing to surgery.
After the surgery, Zeb’s health began to improve. The only thing that didn’t return to normal was his eyesight-- he still can't see, but he learns to use his powers to compensate. Once he was well enough, he left the hospital and moved into Dr. Cooper’s mansion. By this time he was nineteen. He lived there with multiple other mutants for twelve years. However, one year in, they discovered a weird side-effect from the surgery. Zeb had stopped aging. After many tests and procedures, Dr. Cooper came to a conclusion— somehow, while fixing Zeb’s problems with his powers, he had tripped a switch making Zeb immortal. That wasn’t saying, the doctor had reminded the boy, that he couldn’t die. He just wouldn’t die from normal causes. He was as fragile as any other human, he just wouldn’t die of old age and he would always appear to be much younger than he was.
While living with Dr. Cooper, Zeb found his calling— science. He loved it, even taking a courses at a college (required some string pulling, as he had never completed any previous schooling). He ended up getting an honorary degree in the sciences.
The team disbanded after Dr. Cooper’s death— most of the mutants on the team had owed Dr. Cooper something and left once he died. Zeb left as well, going off to live on his own. He lived as a normal human for a while, moving around after a year or two to avoid suspicion. After five years, Zeb became tired of all the moving around and started looking for a place where he wouldn’t have to move anymore. He heard about the California Academy, he moved from New York to California to try and get a job as a teacher. That’s where he is at present.

RP Sample:
It had been years since he had been in school. By his estimation, he was just two years shy of twenty years out of school. And yet, here he was going back, having not changed physically. Sure, he had dyed his hair a few times and he had more piercings and tattoos, Zeb Long still looked the same as he had all those years ago. At thirty-six, he still inhabited the body of a nineteen year old.
California, the new frontier-- at least, it was for Zeb. He had never, in all his years, been out of New York. The flight over had been interesting, for he had never flown either. He had listened in on the pilot's thoughts the entire way; it was a comfort for the nervous passenger to be able to hear what was going on up there. The quiet man was happy to be on the ground.
Fiddling with his thumb ring, Zeb watched out the window as the taxi pulled up to the mansion. If he didn't get this position, all that he had gone through to get there would have been for nothing. It would be difficult to explain to the heads of the school his age-- it always was-- but hopefully they would believe him and grant him employment at their school.
The taxi pulled to a stop outside the school. Zeb took a deep breath. This was make it or break it. After instructing the driver to wait for him, he climbed out of the car and made his way up the steps to the front door. Taking a breath, he rapped his knuckles on the wooden entryway and stepped back, waiting for whoever would answer.
(Its horrible, I know, I'm sorry. D=)
