Your Character:
Appearance: Abigail, despite her age, is considered by many to be a remarkably attractive woman. Her appearance matches her maturity, her experiences, and her general character perfectly. Her face is soft, gentle and has a motherly quality to it, laughter lines and gentle crows feet only exaggerating the image.
Deep chocolate eyes tell of a woman who has seen to the ends of the earth and back, constantly alive with emotion and glittering with an energy of their own. Her hair is kept long, but with an option of practicality. In color, it matches her eyes, although she often highlights it with honey yellows, giving her a soft appearance.
Picture:
Celeb: Alanis Morissette
Name: Abigail Jensen
Codename: Mentor
Age: 44
Apparent Age: 40
Date of Birth: July 19th
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Powers:
Collective Genius- Abigail's intelligence, put simply, is beyond that of mere humans. She is as smart naturally as Doctor Hank McCoy, having studied with him at numerous universities through-out her life. He sees her as an equal, in both general knowledge and in the study of science. Furthering this, her latent telepathic abilities have allowed her to absorb the knowledge of others around her, increasing her intelligence further, putting her on par with geneticists like Nathaniel Essex. Note, her telepathic abilities do NOT allow her to read minds, or absorb thoughts. Her head naturally filters for knowledge that she has not yet acquired, and she knows little about controlling her telepathy, having for years believed intelligence alone to be her mutant gift.
Telepathic Teaching- As Abigail can absorb knowledge, she is able to make others around her absorb knowledge, passing it from her brain to theirs. It is a difficult procedure, and often requires great concentration over long periods. Upon finding this gift, she developed a way to pass on information about controlling ones mutant abilities, those spending long periods of time with her having any mental blocks taken down, increasing their powers tenfold. The effects are slow to come by, but worth it.
Affiliation: New X-Men
Personality: Abigail is a fun loving woman, with a warm heart and a deep sense of loyalty. Her priority in life is to help others, and it tends to override any need for self-preservation, often seeming selfless, no matter the situation. A naturally inquisitive woman, Abigail's love of science often seems probing and far reaching, but it is in her latent abilities to discover and to understand. While not afraid of conflict, she prefers to fight on the defensive, and will only enter combat as a last resort, preferring diplomacy. A quiet woman, she will often not attempt to spar with words.
Family:
Mother- Janice Jensen
Father- Robert Jensen -deceased-
History:
Born to a loving mother and father, Abigail Jensen was raised in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. It is within that small town that she spent most of her early life, neither spoilt rotten nor treated poorly by her parents. She was granted the best upbringing a young girl could receive, and she loved the world she lived in. She attained wonderful marks at school, was well liked, and was never short of friends. Her constant cheery state of mind was to stay with her through her adulthood, although she would often seem shy at first meetings.
On completion of high school with straight A's, specializing in science, she moved onto university, relishing learning, beginning to understand theories that should have been far beyond her mental capacity. It was at the University of Calgary that she met Professor Charles Xavier, who was a common lecturer there, giving talks on the 'Mutant X Genome'. Taking special notice of this phenomenon, she vowed to meet the Professor, giving her thoughts on it's importance in modern science.
She met the man two years later at a graduation celebration, and it was there that she learnt that she was a mutant. She has told very few of her meeting with Xavier, and what was said, but it is known that he informed her of her latent mutation, though how she learned what her abilities were remains a closely guarded secret (though many have just theorized that on telling her of her mutation, the Professor, with her consent, used his mental capabilities to deduce her powers.)
From then, she joined Hank McCoy's medical unit at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, where her powers allowed her access to knowledge from the aforementioned 'Beast', and the Professor himself. Becoming proficient as a scientist, machinist and medical doctor, she was invaluable to the first few incarnations of the X-Men.
Four years later, her and Henry McCoy were lecturers at a number of universities, allowing her powers to gleam further knowledge from other high class minds, elevating her understanding of science to an inhuman level, and she was often ranked among the greatest five minds on the planet.
At the age of 35, Abigail met Professor Moira McTaggart, a close friend of Charles Xaviers. Moira, intrigued and astounded by Abigail's knowledge of the Mutant X gene and general scientific prowess, offered her a place at her research facility at Muir Island to work on discovering how the mutant gene is passed along, and the probability of it manifesting in human children.
Nine years later, her and Moira had become good friends, and made a number of ground breaking discoveries. However, not one of them was what they had originally set out to deduce, and with less and less solid fact surrounding their original hypothesis, they gave in, vowing however to return to their research at a later date.
Returning to America, Abigail had been back only a month before the Professor asked her to take part in the opening of a new School for Gifted Youngsters, managed by two of his most trusted students. She jumped at the chance, and agreed to work as an advisor and scientist at the new establishment, keeping constant tabs on, and acting as constant support to the new Headmistress, Mrs Deanna Haile.
Heading out a week before the new headmistress arrived at the Californian school, she set up a number of systems, worked on a number of sub-basement projects and set up intricate security systems, preparing the mansion for its new arrivals.
Strengthes:
- Abigail is one of the smartest women alive, understanding almost anything presented to her instantly.
- Abigail is a proficient medical doctor, scientist, machinist and computer technician.
- Her caring and gentle personality render her easy to get on with
- Her abilities allow her to pass on knowledge remarkably easy, and therefore make her a perfect substitute teacher, and an even better liaison.
- She has a permanently optimistic outlook on life.
Weaknesses:
- Abigail's fast and over active mind can often render her a little distant.
- Despite her agreeable nature, she will not abide rudeness. Those that are short with her and/or disrespect others will find being on her bad side a taxing predicament.
- Abigail, despite being mentally strong, is physically frail, with little combat experience.
- While working well in both team environments and in solitary confinement, she has to be prepared. To be interrupted when working alone will set her mind off on a tangent, causing her to lose concentration and therefore stopping her working.
- Abigail has a latent fear of heights. Nothing in her life has caused this, and it would appear that, for some reason, vertigo has always been apart of her character.
