Appearance: Lance Tavernier is a 19 year old southern misfit. He has the sweet southern boy looks and the voice to match. His thick southern drawl is typically of most folks from that area. He is only 5 foot 9 inches tall with a rock solid muscular build and he weighs in at 150 pounds. His shaggy mop of jet black hair goes down to his ears. And it’s always in a mess no matter what he does. He can comb it and you would never know he had just done that. It always looks like he has bed head.
His wardrobe consists of jeans, tennis shoes, and t-shirts. And he always wears a cross necklace around his neck in remembrance of his parents. His startling pair of green eyes seems to glow in the dark. When he looks at you, you feel like he is looking into your soul. Since he is from the south and hung outside a lot, he has a darkened tan all over his body. If you didn’t know any better, you would say he looks foreign because of his skin but don’t mention that to Lance. His face is covered with freckles. They seemed to have congregated around his cheeks and chin. All in all he is a very southern guy.

Lance is all about southern hospitality. He’s a very sweet guy. He will go out of his way to help you. And he’s not that easily angered but when he does get angry…watch out! He’s cold, sarcastic and mean! He has a good set of values that he has learned from his parents and he will viciously defend them. He is sweet and compassionate most of the time. He can be a bit edgy about his powers and the lack of control he has over them. This makes him shy around others for if he gets real emotional, he’s afraid he’ll catch them on fire!

History:
Lance and his sister, Casey were born in Houston, Texas where they happily lived the first twelve years of their lives. Nothing of great importance happened. You know it was a fairy tale life. They had parents who loved them, a roof over their heads, clothes, food, great friends and most importantly…each other! They were honor students; they had everything they ever wanted! Then everything began to fall apart when their mutant powers began to show. It was confusing at first because no one in any part of the family on either side were mutants, only Lance and Casey.
After that, every member of the family shunned and pretty much hated Lance and Casey because they were mutants. They were scared but instead of trying to understand them, they let their fears take over and began to emotionally abuse them. They wouldn’t let their kids play with them or even let them hang out with the siblings. At first their parents were nervous but they eventually accepted them and loved them for who they were. But they were the only ones. Even their grandparents who had loved them to pieces had begun to distance themselves from Lance and Casey. Lance and Casey lived protected lives now that their family and friends were shunning them and threatening them with injuries and even death. The two become even closer to their parents and to each other forming an unbreakable bond.
But that bond was tested big time when one night during the full moon a large group of MRD agents stormed their house and began to arrest the siblings for being unregistered mutants. They did not know this until later but as a matter of fact, it was their grandparents who turned the siblings into the MRD. Their parents tried defending them but the officers opened fire severely injuring their mother, Marcela, and killing their father, Keith, instantly. They later found out that their mother died from her injuries during the fight with the MRD agents. The siblings were devastated.
After that, Lance and Casey moved to California. It was a bit of a culture shock at first and they had a tough time getting jobs and making money but the brother and sister duo eventually found an apartment and were doing well with their jobs, but not knowing about their family has made the change difficult. After their parents died, they were disowned by the rest of the family and were threatened with death if they ever returned. They haven’t spoken to any member of their family in four years! So now they have stumbled upon the academy. So what side will they choose? Only Lance and his sister know…
Strengths:
1. Good in martial arts.
2. Strong sense of justice
3. Good sense of judgment…most of the time
4. Quick reflexes
5. High endurance…he’s like the energizer bunny!
Weaknesses:
1. Fighting his sister or doing anything to bring her harm.
2. If he gets overly emotional, things start to catch on fire. The more emotion, the hotter the flames.
3. Easily influenced by others, even those who are bad.
4. Hurting innocent people as in those who he feels aren’t part of the anti mutant thing.
5. He too doesn’t know when to call it quits.

"LANCE, GETCHA YA LAZY BEHIND UP NOW!!!" 21-year-old Casey Tavernier's thick Southern accented voice echoed throughout the small one bedroom apartment. She glared vehemently at the door as she slammed her fist into it again causing it to groan in protests. "We're gonna be late for work ya lazy bum!" Casey yelped in frustration as she pounded her fists into the door again. Her little brother should have been up half an hour ago the little twerp! She was already ready for work and they only had fifteen minutes to get to the bus a half mile away! Ugh. Getting Lance up was like trying to wake up a rock!
"LANCE!" Casey yelped out angrily. "I'm coming in there if ya don't getcha ya lazy--"
"I'm up, I'm up already!" Casey nodded in satisfaction as she heard her 19-year-old brother's groggy voice coming from inside the room.
"You better not go back to sleep!" Casey threatened angrily. "We've only got 15 minutes before we have to leave or else we'll be late!"
"15 MINUTES?!" Casey had to resist the urge to bust out laughing as she heard her brother yelp. Then she could hear him trip over his covers which he had probably thrown on the floor in the middle of the night and curse as he hit the floor with a thud.
Casey sighed in exasperation as she went to the couch, her bed, and waited for Lance while watching her watch religiously. 10 minutes later Lance had stumbled out into the living room. He had a comb in one hand while he was trying to button up his shirt with the other.
"Lance..." Casey laughed as she got up and helped her brother with his shirt.
"Stupid hair...drat you...and all...the stupid! Ugh I hate mornings!" Lance muttered and grumbled to himself under his breath. He drug his comb fruitlessly through his hair as he walked to the kitchen table. No luck, His hair still looked like he just got out of bed though he did but it always looked like this!
"Let's go!" Casey snapped as she grabbed her brother by his arm and proceeded to drag him out the door, locking it behind her of course, and to the bus stop a half mile from their apartment complex. Oy, this is gonna be a long day!
